This Friday, in honor of this substack’s roots, I give you a series of screenshots so ridiculous that I suspect this whole scenario of being some kind of prank or artistic commentary on the state of Italian bureaucracy.
Below are two screenshots of the exact same government website taken one day apart.
The first, taken on a Sunday, informs the viewer that the website is closed and that business hours are Monday through Saturday. That’s right… the website has hours of operation.

The second, taken the next day, is the website as usual, providing the needed article about citizenship acquisition, which for some reason (along with the longing eyes of a child in the background??) isn’t valid on Sundays.
The thing about Italy isn’t that nothing works… it’s that it does work.
Just never how you (or any sane person) might expect.
